Design Challenge
There were two main challenges in this project. The first challenge was to integrate news and articles from different forums and websites by web crawlers. We spent tons of time on studying the best formate for not only displaying information effectively but also compatible with the source websites. The second challenge was to visualize intuitive charts and graphs for trading cryptocurrency. With limited size of a viewport, It was very difficult to put loads of information. A clear content structure and information hierarchy were required in this case.

Operation Flow
Uzidata consists of 3 main features: real-time info, analytics, and custom.

The real-time info so-called "Main dashboard" is divided into 2 sections: information panel and chats. The information panel contains 3 features: news, coins, alert. The news feature help users of the platform to stay updated in the crypto space. At a glance, you will see trending news and news that other traders and following up with. The coins section displays all the major coins that were trading on the market. You will get a list of the top coins that are gaining and a list of the coins that are losing value. The alert feature helps you monitor any coin of interest. For instance, if your interest is in Ethereum, this feature will help you keep track of the coin until the price you intend to buy the coin. Chats is a live chat feature that you can use to chat with other traders. You will know the total number of users online. If you are not a professional trader, this is an opportunity for you to meet someone you can copy his/her trade;

The analytics feature is similar to the Coins feature. You will get to see a list of the top gainers, their market price, as well as the traded volume;

Custom is an archive that allows you to get a breakdown of all your activities on the platform. If you want to check the record of your transaction, you can do so with this feature.
Research
The design research of Uzidata began with studying the existing tech news media, crypto-wallet, forums, trading platforms, followed by qualitative research. Our objective was to investigate how a cryptocurrency trader receives large amounts of information efficiently. And provide a solution for an all-in-one dashboard to the users.
Inspiration
Uzidata was conceived when a few firm, fearless crypto-fanatics realized just how difficult it was to navigate through the countless substandard information that was circulating on the web. From opening ten tabs at a time to find a credible ICO review to scanning article after article for a neutral opinion on the future outlook of the market.

Design Interview about Uzi Dashboard

My client came to me and ask me if I can design a high-tech feeling of a dashboard for them. So I took a lot of reference from the stock-trading software and HUD designs in the sci-fi movies. The tone is dark with the combination of blue and purple, suggesting a mysterious feeling of the future. In terms of user experience, we want to make sure that the usability and clarity are good. So there is only one main page for the product, the rest of the features like news, trading, currency details, wallets are in the form of popup. Besides, this product has a function for social networking. So we put a chat room on the right part of the dashboard. Users can always reach to the chatroom and exchange their ideas with other users in the community.

Consider the scenario that tons of information will be displayed to the users. Clarity and layout efficiency is our main concern. First, we decided to use a dark theme for our color scheme. This can increase readability for users. Also, a dark background relieves eye pressure from users and is more user-friendly for someone staring at the screen all day long. Second, we try our best to pack as much information as we can in a limited space without sacrificing usability. We use mono-type for typography so that users can still read the copy when it is small. In terms of tables and charts, we took a lot of effort to make sure that it is easy to read. Another challenge is to make everything responsive. To do that, we carefully calculate the margin between each section and determine which width of the column is flexible, which one is not. For the visual style, our client specifically asked us to adapt the tone of "techy" and "SciFi", making their product obtain the sense of sophistication but is easy to use.

It took my team around 1.5-2 months to finalize the design. We spent most of the time communicating the structure of the products and the user flow. Additionally, designing the graph and charts was very challenging. We made some research in taking references from stock-trading software and fin-tech websites. This helped us significantly because trading crypto-currency is almost identical to stocks exchange. Another challenge was that most of the news was crawled from other media, so we need to make the UI more adaptable to the content from different sites in different formats.

this product is aimed for crypto-currency trader. Uzi dashboard provides them a combination of news integration, e-wallet, and currency trading. In terms of product design, it is a prospective idea that combining the element of trading software and social networking together. They are usually mutually exclusive. We can regard this product as an experiment of a futuristic form of financial service.
