About Wyndham Grand Executive Restaurant

Wyndham Grand is a 700 square meter restaurant interior that joins a Wagyu beef dining room with a craft beer bar. The layout is semi-open, and plants together with solid and transparent screens divide the space into calm and lively zones. Prefabricated wood panels are installed by modular splicing and carry a matte moisture-proof finish suited to humid conditions. Stainless steel edging conceals the joints between the wood panels and the art glass. The bar counter is made of metal and resin panels, and a display shelf behind the counter holds craft beers.

Bin Luan's Wyndham Grand Executive Restaurant achieves a compelling synthesis of contemporary hospitality architecture and culturally resonant material language, positioning this reception environment within design traditions that honor ceremonial threshold experience while employing the spatial clarity and technical sophistication characteristic of international luxury hospitality. The compositional intelligence evident here demonstrates mastery of layered spatial organization, where foreground biophilic elements, middle-ground reception architecture, and background luminous screens create a cinematic depth progression that guides visitor experience through sequential zones of increasing intimacy and service engagement. The chromatic achievement merits particular attention for its sophisticated deployment of warm earth tones—rich burgundies, chestnuts, and ambers—as primary atmospheric generators, strategically punctuated by cool gray stone and unexpected violet-blue aquatic lighting that prevents chromatic monotony while maintaining overall tonal coherence. The monumental relief wall surface in deep oxblood with its rhythmic concentric circular patterning serves as the composition's most assertive formal gesture, a dimensional treatment that transcends mere decoration to function as spatial anchor, cultural signifier, and sculptural presence, its undulating topography catching and modulating ambient light to create ever-shifting shadow plays that animate the static architecture with temporal variation. The reception desk itself exemplifies thoughtful material stratification, with its tripartite construction of fluted dark metal base, richly figured wood midsection, and pale stone top creating both visual interest through textural and chromatic contrast and symbolic communication of solidity, natural warmth, and refined service, the horizontal banding of these distinct materials echoing architectural traditions where material expression correlates with structural hierarchy and use patterns. The integration of living plantings—the sculptural tree with its organic asymmetry, the vivid moss ground covers, the pale contemplative stones—introduces essential biophilic elements that humanize and soften the architectural precision, offering visual respite and symbolic connection to natural cycles within an otherwise controlled built environment, a design strategy increasingly recognized for its contributions to wellbeing and spatial comfort in commercial interiors. The translucent screen wall system with its geometric perforations and warm backlighting represents a contemporary interpretation of spatial division traditions where opacity and transparency negotiate between separation and connection, creating zones without barriers, privacy without isolation, its glowing panels evoking both modernist light studies and cultural lantern traditions in an elegant hybrid that serves functional and aesthetic purposes simultaneously. The lighting design deserves recognition for its sophisticated layering of systems—ambient recessed downlights, dramatic linear wall-washing, accent illumination within landscape elements, probable underwater lighting, and reflective multiplication through polished floor surfaces—all orchestrated to create spatial hierarchy, direct circulation, establish emotional atmosphere, and celebrate material textures through strategic revelation and concealment. The floor plane's cool gray stone with mirror polish serves not merely as neutral ground but as active compositional participant, capturing and reflecting light sources to expand spatial perception and create atmospheric depth, its subtle veining and large-format installation suggesting contemporary luxury standards while maintaining visual restraint that allows other elements to command attention. This reception environment suggests thematic exploration of threshold experience and ceremonial welcome, where architectural form and material symbolism collaborate to communicate hospitality, cultural identity, professional competence, and aesthetic distinction, transforming the functional requirement of guest reception into an elevated experiential sequence that honors both international design sophistication and culturally specific material traditions. The work invites consideration of how commercial interiors negotiate between universal design languages and particular cultural vocabularies, how material choices encode meaning and expectation, and how spatial organization can choreograph human experience to create memorable transitions between exterior urban reality and interior realms of service, comfort, and curated aesthetic experience.

Unique Properties
This plan aims to create a dining space that combines luxury and vitality, perfectly integrating the exquisite craftsmanship of top-notch Wagyu beef cuisine with the casual and free-spirited nature of craft beer, bringing a multi-sensory feast to guests. The design is based on the concept of an "urban oasis", carving out a serene and vibrant space in the bustling city, allowing guests to enjoy a moment of tranquility and relaxation while savoring delicious food and wine.

Production Technology
The prefabricated wood paneling uses modular splicing technology to reduce on-site construction waste. Its surface is treated with a matte moisture-proof finish, making it suitable for the humidity conditions of semi-open spaces. The junction between the wood paneling and the art glass is concealed with stainless steel edging strips to achieve a refined transition between materials.
Design Challenge
Separation of dynamic and quiet atmospheres: The tranquility of the Wagyu restaurant and the liveliness of the beer bar are separated by only a wall. Acoustic design (such as sound-absorbing materials and soundproofing of space partitions) is required to prevent noise interference and maintain the purity of each atmosphere.
Project Duration
The project is designed to commence in Zaozhuang in July 2024 and complete the design work by September 2024.
Operation Flow
Beer Bar: It adopts an open layout, connected to the Wagyu beef restaurant yet relatively independent. The bar counter is made of metal and resin boards, creating an atmosphere that blends the retro and the futuristic. Behind the bar counter, there is a display shelf for craft beer, showcasing a wide variety of craft beers.
Research
Material and Atmosphere Compatibility: Analyzing the combination of metal and resin panels to create a "retro-futuristic" feel, as well as the role of functional devices such as Wagyu beef display cabinets and craft beer racks in enhancing the dining experience. Ultimately, through multi-dimensional design, a composite sensory experience of "food, nature, relaxation" is achieved.
Inspiration
The semi-open layout of the Wagyu restaurant draws inspiration from the traditional garden design principle of "changing views with every step," using the interplay of solid and transparent screens and the natural growth of plants to divide the space. This design preserves the ceremonial feel required for Wagyu cuisine while using the breathing sensation of greenery to alleviate any sense of confinement.
