About X World Clothing
X World is a conceptual garment inspired by X-ray photographs of insects. The design translates an insect exoskeleton into wearable form, placing layers of shell-like structures on the human body. X World is made with the palace lantern craft of China, a technique listed as intangible cultural heritage. After many material tests, a frame of iron wire was combined with silk gauze, a pairing that is both light and flexible. The garment is delicate yet strong, and presents vulnerability as a temporary form of protection.
X World Clothing by Mysterious Designer represents a remarkable achievement within the contemporary discourse surrounding fashion as sculptural practice, embodying the ongoing dialogue between garment construction and three-dimensional art that has distinguished visionary couture since the mid-twentieth century. This extraordinary creation appears to draw upon traditions of architectural fashion while simultaneously engaging with natural world morphologies, suggesting the designer's profound meditation upon transformation, emergence, and the liminal spaces between states of being. The technical accomplishment evident in the garment's construction demonstrates exceptional mastery of translucent textile manipulation, with the horizontal boning creating structural integrity while maintaining the ethereal lightness essential to the design's conceptual foundation. The four sculptural protrusions, positioned with careful attention to bodily symmetry and visual balance, transform the human form into something approaching the botanical or entomological, inviting associations with unfurling blossoms, emerging butterflies, or the protective cases of metamorphosing creatures. The chromatic restraint, limited to variations of ivory and pearl, permits the structural elements and layered transparencies to command attention without chromatic distraction, demonstrating sophisticated understanding of how limitation can amplify impact. The relationship between the geometric precision of the bodice's horizontal lines and the organic curves of the wing-like extensions creates a compelling visual tension that speaks to broader questions of natural versus constructed beauty. One might observe how the garment appears to capture a moment of becoming, suspended between cocoon and flight, between earthbound existence and aerial transcendence. What does it mean to clothe the body in structures suggesting imminent transformation, and how might wearing such a garment alter one's sense of corporeal possibility?

- Vulnerability is the body's natural "airbag" that turns it into protection when we are faced with a difficult or mentally challenging situation. I think of this protection as an insect exoskeleton attached to our bodies, providing a temporary sense of security. I made this "exoskeleton" into clothes. It's beautiful and fragile, thin and tough.
- Research
- The design of the work is derived from the first "X" light insect photos of photographer Nick Veasey. Starting from the materials and combination methods, I combined with the palace lantern technology of China's intangible cultural heritage. Finally, I chose the combination of the two materials, the skeleton made of iron wire and the silk gaux, which is both light and flexible. It has the aesthetic feeling of sensibility and rationality.
- Inspiration
- The design of the work is derived from the first "X" light insect photos of photographer Nick Veasey, and the insects in the photos are both emotional and rational beauty. I was deeply attracted by the insects, so the exoskeleton made into clothing.
