About Yancheng Nanyang Airport Hotel

Yancheng Nanyang is an airport hotel interior located in the terminal of Yancheng airport in Jiangsu, China, covering 8500 square meters. The fields, mountains and rivers of Yancheng are expressed through decorative materials and soft furnishings. Repetition and reorganization of forms are combined with stable colors to create contrast within the space. The main materials are wood veneer, stone, glass, wallpaper, paint and aluminum plate. Materials were selected for environmental protection, energy saving and controlled cost.

Within the evolving discourse of contemporary hospitality design, this interior by Miaoyi Jiang demonstrates a sophisticated synthesis of cultural heritage and modern spatial expression that positions the work within traditions of meaningful placemaking where arrival experiences transcend mere functionality to become ceremonial thresholds between public and private realms, the designer appears to engage deeply with regional artistic traditions, particularly the symbolic significance of the crane as an emblem of longevity, grace, and spiritual aspiration, translating these associations through multiple material interpretations from the suspended crystalline installation that evokes a flock in ethereal flight to the sculptural copper forms standing as elegant sentinels at the composition's edges, the technical achievement manifests in the careful orchestration of scale relationships where the soaring vertical proportions create a sense of expansive welcome while the intimate seating clusters at human scale provide psychological grounding, the chromatic strategy reveals considered attention to thermal balance as warm natural wood surfaces dialogue with cool blue-gray textile grounds, the coffered ceiling structure demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how bold geometric armature can provide visual stability while supporting the seemingly weightless suspended elements, the carved lateral panels suggest connection to narrative artistic traditions where stories unfold across decorative surfaces, their rich bronze and rust patinas contributing warmth and historical resonance, the work invites consideration of how contemporary design might honor cultural memory while serving present needs, how material choices communicate values of craftsmanship and refinement, and how spatial sequences shape emotional experience, viewers might contemplate what elements of their own cultural heritage could be reimagined through contemporary design vocabulary
