Its modular medical cabin supports rescue, patient transfer, organ transport, and emergency supply missions—functioning as a mobile ICU in the sky.

Balancing emergency workflow efficiency, modular adaptability, sustainable propulsion, and urban operational constraints required continuous iteration between system design, spatial organization, and technical plausibility.
Uphando: The research focused on emergency medical response systems, urban transportation limitations, and emerging sustainable aviation technologies. Methods included case studies of ambulance and helicopter rescue operations, analysis of medical workflows, and evaluation of hybrid propulsion systems. The findings informed a design solution that integrates medical functionality, mobility innovation, and environmental responsibility, addressing real-world challenges in emergency healthcare access.
Inkuthazo: The project addresses the growing gap between emergency medical needs and current urban transport systems. Traffic congestion and the high cost, noise, and limited endurance of helicopters often delay rescue, motivating a faster, quieter, and more sustainable aerial medical solution.
Ubude Beprojekthi: The project was developed as an academic design project at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, United States. The design process included research, concept development, and advanced visualization completed during the academic term.
Ukuhamba Komsebenzi: Arion VTOL operates by vertically taking off from compact urban locations such as rooftops or parking areas.
