About Quadricycle Tito Tilt Quadricycle Frame

The Tito system is a new concept for four wheel vehicles that allows controlled leaning in curves. The articulated frame changes the geometry of the vehicle, improving stability, comfort and control. The lower suspension remains stable while the upper structure adapts to the turn. This solution reduces rider effort and improves safety. The concept can be used in urban, sport and electric mobility.

Unique Properties
This design introduces a quadricycle concept based on an articulated frame with variable geometry that allows controlled leaning of the vehicle and wheels during cornering. Unlike conventional rigid quadricycles, it combines four-wheel stability with motorcycle-like dynamics. Its key strengths include improved maneuverability, reduced rider effort, enhanced cornering stability, and adaptability to combustion, hybrid, or electric powertrains, establishing a new benchmark for quadricycle performance and versatility.
Dimensions & Packaging
Although conceptual, the project is based on realistic technical specifications. It uses a modular articulated frame with fixed lower suspension and a movable upper structure that enables controlled leaning. The system supports mechanical or electronically assisted steering, defined lean limits, and compatibility with combustion, hybrid, or in-wheel electric motors. All components are designed to align with existing manufacturing methods and current vehicle technologies.

Production Technology
The design was developed using an engineering-driven approach, combining vehicle dynamics principles with modular chassis architecture. Key elements include an articulated frame with variable geometry, fixed lower suspension, and a lean-controlled upper structure. The concept was refined through iterative sketching, CAD modeling, kinematic studies, and feasibility checks aligned with existing manufacturing processes, materials, and scalable production technologies.
Design Challenge
The main creative challenge of the TITO project was to rethink the traditionally rigid quadricycle architecture through the lens of modern vehicle dynamics. Internally, the project required balancing structural safety with controlled leaning, overcoming established technical paradigms. Externally, legal constraints, industrial feasibility, and the maturity of electrification and control technologies were considered, resulting in a realistic, scalable solution aligned with current urban mobility demands.
Research
Type of Research: applied and exploratory design research.
Research Objectives: improve quadricycle stability and maneuverability while preserving safety.
Methodology: comparative analysis between motorcycles and quadricycles combined with iterative conceptual design.
Data Collection and Tools: technical literature, sketches and CAD studies
Participants or Experiments: virtual behavior testing.
Results, Insights and Impacts: a leaning frame system that reduces rider effort and increases control.
Real-World Effect: supports safer urban mobility, expands product possibilities, and introduces new design approaches for future vehicles.
Inspiration
Quadricycles, or ATVs, are vehicles recognized for their versatility, robustness, and high level of safety, and are widely used as recreational, sporting, and professional alternatives.
Despite these qualities, their presence in urban environments and everyday-use applications remains limited. This limitation is directly related to their low dynamic maneuverability. The idea of this quadricycle is to bring it for urban use, expanding the mobility options within the city.
Project Duration
This project born in 1990, in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, and it was completed in the year 2025.
Operation Flow
This vehicle is operated like a quadricycle, but it moves more naturally in curves. When the rider turns and shifts body weight, the vehicle gently leans, and the wheels follow this movement together. The structure adapts while riding, changing its shape only where needed. This interaction feels intuitive and stable. By leaning instead of resisting the turn, it improves balance, control, and comfort, delivering safer and more enjoyable performance than traditional quadricycles.
