Interview with Eduardo Guizar Vukovich

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Since I was a child, I always had a penchant for art and visual communication. My mother always encouraged me to play with paints and clay. In my house there were always an abundance of books with illustrations and drawings.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
I am currently director of the Graphic Design program at the University of Monterrey. The number one program nationwide as a private design school.
What is "design" for you?
It is the search for the best solution to a problem, its implementation and its improvement.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
It is the search for the best solution to a problem, its implementation and its improvement through innovation and creativity.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
The flag of Japan. It represents the exit from a complex process for a nation. It is the perfect evolution of the previous flag (the empire) towards a dignified, minimalist and inspiring solution. The sun that was already born
When do you feel the most creative?
When I don't have that much time to give a design solution to a client.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
The figure of the designer today, as a creator of solutions, is the basis of social development and consolidation towards a more sustainable future.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
Technology, as it has done historically, is modifying everything in design. Virtual reality, work in digital media and the generation of design with artificial intelligence are the route to follow.
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
Now I participate more as an organizer than as a designer. Beautifull numbers the Estefan Singmainster was the last exhibition I worked on with the university team.

Yes, my country has a large heritage of visual comunicación. many cultures has bine shared to de nex generations tons of ideas an examples. Same for me.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
User centered design always. But some times Scrum can works well
Can you describe a day in your life?
Talks with students, talks with teachers, talks with strategic allies and reading about design.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
It is a career with infinite current demand, the bad thing is that it usually has a short life as an employee of a studio. The path is independence.
How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
It totally depends on the type of project. A poster can take an afternoon or a week
