About Gioia No 1 Lady Golf Driver

Gioia No 1 is a golf driver designed for women and amateur golfers. The head is optimized for moment of inertia and matched to the biomechanical characteristics of non-professional female players. Every part of the driver is shaped for improved launch angles at slower swing speeds, which supports accuracy and longer distances from the tee. Integrated weight positions in the back and the heel allow individual fitting. The head is made by investment casting in Ti811 titanium alloy, with a volume of 420 cubic centimetres and a loft of 19 degrees.

Within the lineage of precision-engineered sporting equipment design, Do:it Solutions's Gioia No 1 Lady Golf Driver represents a thoughtful convergence of performance engineering and considered aesthetic refinement, positioned at the intersection of athletic functionality and contemporary industrial design sensibilities that increasingly recognize sporting equipment as embodying both technical achievement and visual appeal worthy of sustained contemplation. The compositional intelligence evident in the driver head's form language suggests engagement with aerodynamic optimization principles translated into visually legible geometric patterning, where the copper accent lines tracing across the crown's surface serve dual purposes as structural reinforcement channels and as visual wayfinding elements that communicate technological sophistication through restrained linear vocabulary rather than excessive ornamental complexity. The chromatic sophistication demonstrates particular accomplishment in the calibrated relationship between the cool-toned gunmetal crown finish and the warm copper detailing, establishing material hierarchy and visual interest through temperature contrast while maintaining overall tonal restraint appropriate to premium athletic equipment where performance credibility demands visual sobriety rather than chromatic exuberance. Technical facility manifests in the seamless integration of multiple materials and finishes, the precision of the geometric accent line execution suggesting advanced manufacturing processes including laser etching or precision inlay techniques, and the graduated satin-to-polished finish transition from crown to perimeter band revealing careful consideration of how surface treatment modulates light reception and material perception. The volumetric form itself demonstrates the elegant problem-solving characteristic of contemporary driver design, where aerodynamic requirements, structural engineering constraints, center-of-gravity optimization, and moment-of-inertia considerations all inform the bulbous teardrop profile that has become the typological signature of modern metalwood construction, here refined through subtle faceting and geometric articulation that transforms functional necessity into considered formal expression. Thematically, the work invites reflection on the evolving relationship between athletic performance and aesthetic experience in contemporary sporting culture, where equipment transcends pure utility to become an expression of personal style, technical appreciation, and the democratization of engineering excellence previously reserved for elite professional contexts, now accessible to dedicated recreational athletes seeking both functional advantage and the satisfying material presence of beautifully resolved design. The geometric patterning etched across the crown may reference aeronautical and automotive design vocabularies where surface articulation communicates speed, precision, and technical heritage, while the warm copper accents potentially evoke craft traditions and material authenticity that humanize the technological achievement with sensory warmth. One might observe how the driver head's isolated presentation against the neutral ground creates a contemplative viewing condition more commonly associated with museum object photography than commercial product imagery, inviting sustained formal appreciation and perhaps suggesting that well-designed athletic equipment occupies cultural territory between pure commodity and considered artifact, functional tool and aesthetic object, mass-manufactured product and individually meaningful possession that accompanies personal athletic journey and aspiration toward improved performance and embodied mastery of challenging physical skills.

Unique Properties
Golf can be challenging, especially the frustration after a failed shot. That's why we developed the first MOI-optimized driver for women and amateur golfers. GIOIA is a particularly easy-to-play driver customized to the golfers’ momentum of inertia and the biomechanical characteristics of female, non-professional golfers. Every part of the driver is designed for optimized launch angles at slower swing speeds. The results are accuracy, longer distances from the tee, and confidence in the game.

Production Technology
A fist design prototype was realized using FDM and SLA 3D print with PLA and ABS like resin. After the definition of the final geometry, another second prototype was created. To aim for a final material touch-and-feel the prototype was made via SLM 3D print using EOS TI 64 Titanium alloy as the material of choice. For the series production the products are produced with investment casting. The final material is Ti811(TI-8AL-1V) Titanium alloy.
Design Challenge
Designing a Golf driver, the following standardized design and construction parameters apply: The Lie Angle has to be 60°. The distance from heel to toe must be greater than the distance from face to back. The distance from heel to toe must not be greater than 127mm. The distance from the sole to the crown cannot be greater than 71,12mm. If the outermost point of the heel is not clearly defined, it is deemed to be 22,24mm above the horizontal plane on which the club (driver) is lying. The Volume must not exceed 460 cubic centimetres, plus a tolerance of 10 cubic centimetres. The distance between the heel and the plane containing the axis of the shaft should be greater than 15,88mm. The centre of gravity should lay on the neutral axis plane through the face centre.
Project Duration
The project started in 2023 and was presented in 2025 in Linz, Austria.
Operation Flow
The driver's head is intended to be fully fitted by GIOIA professionals to transfer the feel of shorter clubs to the driver. Therefore, it offers plenty of integrated fitting options. The remote fitting process is quick, easy and precise and can be done from the comfort of your own home. You can get your unique GIOIA driver in just a few steps. After you have entered all the necessary information into a form, the GIOIA fitting software calculates the optimal driver specifications for you. Our professionals will then tailor your driver for you in the workshop. Carefully packaged, your exclusive GIOIA driver will be delivered to your home.
Research
Very often conventional women's drivers simply do not fit, as if they had been designed for men and subsequently modified slightly for women. Most women's drivers were often too long, too heavy and had a loft that was unsuitable for the individual swing power and technique. For three years we devoted ourselves intensively to the goal of developing the perfect driver for slow swing speeds. We tested different lengths, weights and lofts, analysed materials and spoke to numerous female golfers about their experiences and challenges. What began as an observation became a mission: to create the ideal women's and amateurs' driver that meets special requirements and helps women to reach their full potential.
Inspiration
“I was teaching a very nice lady but unfortunately, she couldn't get to grips with her driver swing. I thought, why do women and amateurs have to play with a driver that isn't right for them? That's how the story of GIOIA began.” We created the perfect club, enabling amateur golfers to grow in the game and just have fun when teeing off. The design is smooth, highly effective, and its minimalistic rationalism brings the correct dose of understatement of quality and luxury to the play.
