Über Jackery Nexus Intelligentes Verpackungssystem

Jackery Nexus ist ein intelligentes Verpackungssystem für Unterhaltungselektronik. NFC- und RFID-Tags werden in Standardkartons integriert und verwandeln die Verpackung so in eine digitale Schnittstelle. Logistikverfolgung, Chargenbestand, Authentifizierung und Lebenszyklusdaten werden über eine Cloud-Plattform verwaltet. Durch Antippen des Kartons mit dem Smartphone gelangen Nutzer zu digitalen Handbüchern, Augmented-Reality-Inhalten und Produktinformationen. Das System fügt sich in bestehende Produktionsprozesse ein, sodass die Verpackung nicht als Wegwerfbehälter, sondern als langfristiger Servicekanal dient.

By integrating RFID into standard packaging, it enables lifecycle-level visibility, authentication, and continuous user interaction. Users access digital manuals, AR content, and real-time product data via NFC, while brands gain scalable service channels. Packaging becomes a long-term interaction node delivering systemic innovation and commercial value.
Abmessungen & Verpackung: The Jackery Smart Packaging System includes standard boxes with embedded NFC chips and RFID tags. Each set contains the packaging unit, electronic tags, and a cloud interface module. NFC operates at 13.56 MHz; RFID offers HF and UHF with batch reading. Packaging is customized per product to secure electronics. The system supports multi-device connectivity, data sync, and remote updates, with standardized interfaces ensuring reliability, scalability, and long-term performance.

Produktionstechnologie: The system embeds NFC and RFID into standard packaging, integrating real-time logistics tracking, batch inventory, anti-counterfeiting, and lifecycle data via a cloud platform. Users access AR, digital manuals, and product info through NFC. Materials and structure are engineered for stability and scalability, enabling mass production without altering existing processes. Smart tech is seamlessly fused into packaging, elevating it from passive container to interactive, data-driven system.
Designherausforderung: The main challenge was integrating system-level capabilities into traditional packaging without disrupting production or supply chains. Packaging’s fixed processes, roles, and one-time use mindset posed internal barriers, while regulatory compliance, mass-production feasibility, cost, and data consistency were external constraints. Through a system-based design approach and cross-team collaboration, abstract service and data concepts became practical, scalable packaging solutions.
Forschung: This applied design research explored packaging’s role in digital and service contexts. Using process analysis, scenario mapping, prototypes, workflow modeling, and pilot tests, design, engineering, and supply chain teams participated. Results show system-based packaging improves information flow, efficiency, and engagement, reduces gaps, and extends service value, offering scalable, industry-leading guidance for sustainable, business-focused design.
Inspiration: The Jackery Smart Packaging System was inspired by the limits of traditional packaging single use, static, and disconnected from digital information. We redefined packaging as a dynamic, intelligent, and sustainable platform. By integrating NFC and RFID, it enables lifecycle data tracking, supply chain transparency, and user interaction. Packaging becomes a long term bridge between brand and user, making every unboxing an intelligent, connected, and meaningful experience.
Projektdauer: The project was initiated in 2025 within Jackery’s design and engineering teams in China. Development and validation were carried out through close collaboration between packaging design, engineering, and supply chain teams. The project has been iteratively refined and prepared for application across multiple product lines and global markets.
Betriebsablauf: The Jackery Smart Packaging System treats packaging as the starting point for information and interaction. As products move through production, storage, and logistics, packaging is identified and updated, creating a continuous information flow. At the user end, it becomes an intuitive service entry, providing guidance through simple interaction. Without extra devices, packaging evolves from a disposable container into a lifecycle service carrier, enhancing efficiency, clarity, and experience.
