Production Technology
The bottle itself is adorned in Jicui, a peacock green hue derived from the Zang Kiln during the Kangxi Era of the Qing Dynasty, symbolizing good fortune. It is further frosted and sprayed to present a distinctive matte texture, exuding an elegant, mysterious appeal.
The lower section of the bottle is meticulously engraved with traditional Chinese wave patterns, harmonizing with the cap shaped like a Loong head and the golden metal base to evoke a profound Eastern allure.
Design Challenge
To address the challenge of integrating traditional Chinese elements with modern aesthetics, the bottle features a cap sculpted like the Loong head and a body engraved with wave patterns, reflecting the ancient Chinese belief of the Loong ascending upon encountering water. It combines classical aesthetics with modern design, evoking the majesty and strength of the Loong while infusing the product with dynamism and vitality. Cultural inheritance and modern tastes are both met in this design.
Research
Based on the insight into traditional Chinese culture and the zodiac themed product market, this Chinese Baijiu packaging features a cap sculpted like the Loong head, and a bottle engraved with traditional wave patterns in a traditional Chinese color called Jicui, reminiscent of peacock green. Here, traditional cultural charm meets modern aesthetics. The launch of a zodiac themed liquor series aligns with market trends, offering consumers a choice that is worth anticipating and collectible.
Inspiration
With a concept of the Loong casting its majesty across the land, this design features traditional Chinese elements, including the zodiac sign, color, and pattern, to arouse cultural identity. The series begins with the Year of the Loong and will continue with a new zodiac themed liquor each year, making each product an artistic piece that stirs anticipation and is collectible. More than just for drinking, this design serves as a unique cultural symbol for promoting traditional Chinese culture.
Project Duration
The design and development of this project started in Chengdu, China, in July, 2023. The product was introduced to the Chinese market in April, 2024.
Operation Flow
The whiskers serve as a locking mechanism, ensuring the cap stays in place during transportation and storage. This feature holds the auspicious meaning of wisdom and longevity.
The cap shaped like the Loong head and the wave patterns on the bottle evoke a majestic image of the Loong rising through waves, offering an interactive opening experience filled with the joy of exploration.
The gift box aesthetically harmonizes with the bottle, presenting a cohesive set perfect for gifting or collecting.
