- The packaging is designed for efficient mass production using recyclable corrugated paper and eco friendly soy based inks. The structure follows standard die-cut and folding processes, so it fits existing production lines without extra cost. Print areas are used to add sustainability messages without adding materials. Paper-based inserts reduce plastic and keep good protection, making the solution practical and scalable.
- Pilikia Hoʻolālā
- A key challenge was balancing emotional storytelling with real production limits. We needed strong environmental visuals without increasing cost or material use. Internally, the team aligned brand history with a more educational role. Externally, we considered mass-production feasibility, supply chain limits, and varying sustainability standards. The solution came from using graphics and structure, not extra materials, to deliver impact.
- Noiʻi
- Applied design research aimed to explore how packaging can raise environmental awareness. Methods included market review, user interviews, and prototype testing, with data gathered through surveys and observation. Participants were everyday consumers. Results showed story-driven visuals improved recall and emotional response. Insights informed a low cost, scalable solution influencing greener purchasing, brand communication, and sustainable design practice.
- Hoʻoulu Manaʻo
- This project was inspired by the visible gap between growing environmental awareness and real everyday action. Seeing how packaging is often discarded yet reaches millions of users, we saw an opportunity to turn it into a storytelling medium. The contrast between thriving and damaged habitats came from observing climate impacts on wildlife, motivating a design that quietly educates while delivering a meaningful unboxing experience.
- Ka Lōʻihi o ka Papahana
- The project will begin in the United States in January 2026, with sales going worldwide.
- Kaʻina Hana
- Users interact with the design through a guided unboxing journey. As the box opens, they see a visual story showing nature before and after environmental impact, prompting reflection. The experience feels simple yet meaningful, turning a routine unboxing into a moment of awareness, which helps the message stay in users’ minds longer.
