About Green Light Tea Garden Teumbúðir

Unique Properties
The packaging material is designed to protect environment and indigenous species. It is made of used tea leaf residue as well as tea bag paper. Its illustration technique combines the four creatures in Pinglin (Collared Owlet, Formosan muntjac, Lophura swinhoii, Emerald green tree frog) and integrates them into the local environment (Cloud, Mountain, Forest, Water). The packaging is finally printed with eco-friendly ink, providing the feeling of a symbiosis between world and nature.

Production Technology
Tea leaf residue is used to make the packaging material. The production process must integrate filtered tea residue and handmade paper. Environmentally-friendly ink is then printed on the handmade long fiber paper, adhering to the spirit of environment protection.
Design Challenge
In response to the spirit of environmental protection, the packaging use tea leaf residue that has to be produced into paper. The production process must overcome the combination of filtered tea leaf residues and handmade paper, and also environmentally-friendly ink printing on handmade long-fiber paper. It requires a substantial amount of time and paper mill research and development, as well as continuous experimentation on printing techniques, because it is fairly different from the general material technology and production. By doing so, Green Light Tea Garden promotes the environmental protection spirit.
Research
The founder promotes environment protection spirit by using organic plants and indigenous species at the same time. The packaging production also adheres to the same spirit by making use of tea dregs and tea bag paper. Along with the simple and easy-to-understand illustrations of indigenous animals integrated to the local natural environment printed on the package with environmentally friendly ink, everyone can become aware that Green Light Tea Garden cares for the environment.
Inspiration
Green Light Tea Garden is located in the upper region of the Feicui Reservoir, where the Beishi River springs in Pinglin, Taiwan. The founder uses organic plants as well as indigenous species to protect and promote the natural environment. To echo the spirit of environmental protection, the paper used in the packaging is made of recycled tea bag paper and tea dregs.
Project Duration
Completed in May 2020 and exhibited in Pinglin, Taiwan in July 2020
Operation Flow
Use organic tea for the protection of the environment and local fauna,
and through the packaging design, inform everyone of the importance of
