About Eastern Seawall Signalisatiounssystem

Eastern Seawall ass e Signalisatiounssystem, deen fir eng Küstepromenad op der Dapeng-Hallefinsel zu Shenzhen, China, entworf gouf. Sechs getrennte Sektioune laanscht eng 32 Kilometer laang Küstelinn si mat enger eenheetlecher visueller Sprooch verbonnen. Schëlder, Kaarte vum Site an Ekologie-Aféierunge si laanscht Stroossen an un Entréeë placéiert. Feiler, déi vum Gezäitefloss geformt sinn, ginn eng kloer Orientéierung. D'Tafele si aus korrosiounsresistentem Merbau-Haardholz mat engem Skelett aus Stolkräizverstrebunge gemaach. Modulär Strukturen erlaben eng flexibel Montage op Uferschutzmaueren, Trapen, Häng a Riffer, a reduzéieren d'Wandlaaschten an engem salzegen a fiichte Klima.

Unique Properties
This project was to connect 6 areas visually by unified signage systems, creating unique experience for visitors to enjoy native features and vitality.
While avoiding intrusive design, we took "reading on the way" as main design concept. It provides visitors with fresh, interesting and complete experience to read information, such as signboards, site maps and ecology introductions for roads and entrances. Modular structures were adopted to meet the needs of different venues.

Production Technology
Along the 32km shoreline of Dapeng Peninsula in six disconnected parts, is dotted with boards in compact structures. The installation is easy and fast due to stage construction and long cycle. The coastal conditions bring challenges such as typhoon, high salt and high humidity. The boards can reduce wind loads and combine with permanent poles, avoiding looseness and corrosion of regular metal fasteners, easy for maintenance.
Design Challenge
The unified signage systems are built instead of the existed disordered ones to meet low maintenance demands for each section, and the demands for coastal economic production, also for the tourists. They’re designed by modular structures, making sign boards available with various forms but unified modules. Flexible sign-board assembling is achieved to meet the needs of different venues.
Research
Mountain-seaside Promenade was an existed narrow road connecting villages and peninsula end. Without guardrails and roadside furniture, the road was nearly untraversed. By chance, it became a nice area for ocean protection.
The interesting and changing ground graphics by coating process are designed to attract people to interact with this nice area during their visit on the magnificentpromenade.
Inspiration
Located in the east of Shenzhen, Dapeng Peninsula is famous for its mountains and seas. Local fishing villages and long coastline attract a large number of tourists. The design endowed the existed seawall with ideal tourist function.
Linear coastline space connects villages, roads, destinations and activity spaces in the entire region. It becomes a new type of experience-oriented tourist site.
Project Duration
Sept 22, 2022 Dapeng District, Shenzhen,Guangdong, China
Operation Flow
Located on a long narrow site, light and graceful boards can adapt to various venues of seawalls, steps, slopes and even reefs. The vivid tidal flow shaped arrows are adopted for clear guidance at the linear destinations.
