Unique Properties
Emerge is a wall luminaire shaped as a closed geometric volume that conceals and modulates illumination. The light source remains entirely hidden, allowing light to manifest as a controlled presence rather than a visible element. The inner surface is precisely calibrated to reinforce reflection and maintain luminous clarity. This deliberate containment transforms light into a spatial event. The dialogue between the solid exterior and the emerging glow establishes a distinct architectural identity, articulating transition from enclosure to revelation while preserving composure and seamless integration within the built environment.
Dimensions & Packaging
Emerge features two high efficiency linear LED modules with a total power of 15W delivering up to 1000 lumens for indirect architectural lighting. The internal reflector improves optical efficiency and ensures glare free illumination. Standard configuration includes 3000K with CRI above 90, optional 3500K and 4000K, and dimmable drivers including 0 to 10V and DALI. Aluminum 6063 structure ensures durability. Dimensions 630 mm H 520 mm W 40 mm D.

Production Technology
Emerge is manufactured from 3mm aluminum 6063 sheet using precision laser cutting and folding, eliminating the need for tooling and minimizing material waste. The inner surface is finished in white to improve light reflection and efficiency. A concealed internal reflector controls light distribution and eliminates glare. The fixture uses a simple pin based wall mount system for fast installation. Finishes include durable powder coating or anodizing.
Design Challenge
A key challenge was creating a fully enclosed form that allows light to emerge while maintaining structural integrity and visual clarity. Achieving sufficient illumination required precise aperture calibration and internal reflectance optimization. The solution involved separating exterior and interior surface finishes to enhance light efficiency while preserving the monolithic appearance and enabling simple mold free manufacturing.
Research
The research investigates how controlled apertures within a closed architectural volume can shape light perception and spatial experience. By studying aperture geometry, internal reflectance, and indirect illumination behavior, the design enables light to emerge without exposing its source. Prototyping and material testing confirmed that a high reflectance interior significantly improves luminous efficiency and wall clarity, resulting in a lighting object that balances symbolic expression, functional performance, and efficient production.
Inspiration
Emerge expresses the moment when freedom comes into existence. Light is contained within a closed and controlled form, symbolizing truth and human presence held under pressure and silence. Over time, illumination defines its own path outward, not by exposure but by persistence. The central opening marks the first act of emergence, while surrounding apertures reflect gradual release, conveying that even under confinement, light ultimately asserts its presence and becomes visible.
Project Duration
The project was designed in 2026 in Tehran, Iran.
Operation Flow
Emerge functions through indirect, controlled illumination. The concealed internal light source emits light that is guided through engineered apertures and a central vertical opening. This arrangement prevents direct glare while creating clear directional presence and ambient reflection. Interaction is passive and architectural, designed to operate continuously as a wall integrated object. The user experiences a gradual visual transition as light defines itself through form rather than exposure.
