About Dragon Boat Festival Packaging Hộp Quà

Bao Bì Tết Đoan Ngọ là một hộp quà được thiết kế cho Tết Đoan Ngọ của Trung Quốc. Hộp bên ngoài được tạo hình như một con rồng, với lá ngải cứu phác họa thân rồng và các đường vân lá sậy tạo thành vảy rồng. Hộp bên trong thể hiện hình ảnh hai con rồng ôm bánh chưng (zongzi), một họa tiết mang ý nghĩa may mắn nhân đôi trong văn hóa Trung Hoa. Khi mở nắp, bốn mặt của hộp bên trong tự mở ra nhờ trọng lực, tựa như một tấm màn đang được kéo lên. Hộp được làm từ giấy thân thiện với môi trường với kỹ thuật khắc giấy ba chiều và bìa cứng nhiều lớp. Thiết kế truyền tải những lời chúc về sức khỏe và vận may.

Unique Properties: Dragon Boat, a traditional symbol of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, as well as an ideology that people wish to eradicate diseases, is the origin of this packaging. Thus, the elements of Dragon Boat, Zongzi and mugwort are integrated into the outer packaging and the inner box to convey benedictions, especially against the backdrop of Covid-19.

Production Technology: Eco-friendly paper and 3D paper carving techniques
Design Challenge: The biggest challenge is the integration of traditional cultural elements and packaging, which not only brings users visual experiences, but provides them with an interactive using process.
Research: The Chinese ancestors considered dragon the symbol of luck and the master of winds and rains. On the Dragon Boat Festival, the Eastern Star, representing the Azure Dragon will rise to the sky, which is called Dragon skies in Chinese classical astrology. As the Azure Dragon is in the highest position, affair will also reach acme. Therefore, Wu Yue tribes whose totem is the dragon will hold a grand totem sacrifice to pray for the eradication of epidemics and influenza and the fortune of the world.
Inspiration: It was inspired by the Dragon Boat Sacrificial Ceremony, by which the ancient Chinese prayed to stars and gods for the eradication of diseases and bumper harvest. The outer box is designed with a dragon as the main body, with the shape of mugwort leaves outlining the torso of the dragon and the grains of the reed leaves as the scales of the dragon body. While the inner box adopts a packaging of two dragons holding Zongzi, which means double luck in Chinese culture.
Project Duration: This product was started in Shenzhen, China in April 2020, and was finished in Shenzhen, China in May 2020.
Operation Flow: When users lift the box lid, the independent four sides of the inner box will be unfolded by gravity, which looks like a suddenly risen curtain. In this work, with totems, festival rituals and Dragon Boat scenes as the theme, traditions and characteristics of the Dragon Boat Festival are presented through multi-layered three-dimensional patterns and layered cardboard.
