About CIFI Nansha Yaoyue Bay Sales Center

CIFI Nansha Yaoyue Bay is a sales center located on the international finance island in Nansha District, Guangzhou, China. Water is the central theme of the interior. Decorations at the entrance resemble ripples spreading across water. The layered ceiling recalls the sea and the beach, and an irregular bench recalls sea spray. Curved forms are used throughout to soften the enclosed space. Materials include plated metal, resin, marble, leather and acrylic fiber carpet. The design turns local culture and coastal scenery into interior art that is both decorative and practical.

Within the evolving landscape of contemporary commercial interior design, this work by 10 Degrees Design demonstrates an exceptional synthesis of Eastern philosophical concepts and Western sculptural traditions, creating a space that transcends typical sales center conventions to achieve something approaching the sacred or ceremonial. The design appears to engage with longstanding architectural traditions of threshold and transition, employing bilateral symmetry to establish a formal processional axis that draws visitors toward the central sculptural installation with almost gravitational inevitability. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless integration of multiple material vocabularies: the warm copper-bronze metallic elements achieve a dialogue with the cool white marble surfaces that recalls the balance principles fundamental to traditional Asian aesthetic philosophy, while the highly reflective dark floor creates a doubling effect that suggests cosmological ideas of heaven reflected in earth, upper and lower realms united through perfect mirroring. The central spiral sculpture, descending from its illuminated ceiling aperture, may reference concepts of cosmic connection or the descent of creative energy into material form, while the flanking teardrop installations frozen above their ripple-marked pools arrest a moment of transformation between states, liquid becoming solid, movement becoming stillness. The organic curvature of the ceiling and wall surfaces introduces biomorphic sensibility that softens the formality of the axial composition, perhaps suggesting natural forms like caves, shells, or embryonic spaces that speak to shelter, origin, and nurturing embrace. Visitors might consider how the space orchestrates their experience through scale relationships, material sensuousness, and light modulation to create an emotional response that prepares them for significant decision-making, transforming commercial transaction into something approaching ritual occasion.

Design Challenge
Regarding the layout of the sales center, the second floor is for talk while the first floor is for display. The designer team attaches great importance to the theme of the first floor that requires a representation of humanistic emotion and business value. Therefore, the team takes water as the clue, art decorations as the guide and waterflow as the visiting route. The beauty of nature and art merges together in the space.
Project Duration
This work was initiated and completed in Guangzhou city, respectively in January, 2021 and June, 2021. It also opened to the public in June, 2021.
Operation Flow
Curves for decoration exist everywhere to neutralize depression and tension caused by the closed space ingeniously. Far more than this, the streamlined expression simulates the latitude of the sea and the island, which complements the ceiling and raises an echo between the sea view and the water-related art pieces. Whichever angle you appreciate from, it takes on rich types of beauty.
Research
This work lies in Nansha District, Guangzhou city. The culture and history here bond tightly with rivers and lakes, and people here are naturally intimate with water. Nansha international finance island, the Chinese first international finance island requires more modern and international design language. It transforms local resources and cultural essence into interior landscape and creates art pieces which balance beauty and practicality, and evoke empathy of clients.
Inspiration
This work is inspired by the interaction among water and all nature beings. The decorations of the entrance are just like ripples which gradually disperse the moment drips drop into water. The layers of the ceiling arise from the breath of the sea and beaches. The irregular bench for rest simulates the styling of spray as the dolphin leaps out of the sea. Each part is artistically related to the element, water.
