About Co Art AI Interactive Place
Co Art is an interactive installation that lets visitors create art together with artificial intelligence. The system is driven by neural network algorithms and connects people to the digital world. A ring of light guides the visitor to place a hand inside the blue interactive area and to speak. The spoken words are then converted into an imaginative artwork. The device measures 1501 by 697 by 420 millimetres and is used in a standing position. Co Art gives visitors the role of the artist and offers an unusual exhibition experience.
Wan Xi's Co Art AI Interactive Place represents a significant achievement in the emerging field of human-artificial intelligence creative collaboration, positioning itself at the intersection of installation art, interface design, and participatory experience. The work demonstrates sophisticated understanding of spatial dramaturgy, employing deep atmospheric blue to create an environment that encourages contemplative engagement while foregrounding the luminous digital seascape as both artwork and interface. The central imagery merits particular attention for its synthesis of naturalistic marine observation with deliberately stylized formal treatment, the waves rendered as flowing sculptural forms that acknowledge their computational genesis while maintaining aesthetic connection to centuries of maritime artistic tradition, perhaps evoking the rhythmic energy found in Hokusai's studies of water or the chromatic investigations of marine Impressionists. The biomorphic terminal sculpture introduces a haptic dimension to the experience, its organic contours and warm illuminated aperture inviting physical approach and interaction, transforming the viewer from passive observer to active participant in the creative process. This integration of sculptural form with technological function suggests careful consideration of how humans approach and engage with digital systems, softening the perceived barrier between organic and artificial through thoughtful formal design. - Co Art is an all-new physical space for humans to co-create art with artificial intelligence. The magic Light is an interactive device enabled by neural network algorithms, and capable of connecting humans to the digital world. When a ring of light appears around the device, put a hand through it, and speak. The device will listen to, and understand you, and turn what you have just said into a piece of imaginative artwork. This is a brand-new, interactive way to create art, providing visitors with an opportunity to swap roles with artists, and deliver unusual experiences at exhibitions.

- Production Technology
- For the implementation of algorithms ,there are two passes in this process. We push a latent through the generative model to produce an image. Then pass the image to CLIP’s image embedder to measure the images’ similarity with the text prompt. Then we backpropagate through CLIP and the generative model, all the way back to the latent vector, and then use gradient ascent to update the latent, bringing the image slightly closer to matching with the text prompt. Repeat forward and backward passes until convergence.
For the hardware part,Take use of Arduino mega 32 to connect the sensor and control pannel. - Design Challenge
- The most challenge for the project is to realize the new way of interaction. We need to learn lots of knowledge about how to build the input and output modules for the device. We tested many times for the interaction to make sure the steady running. Finally it woks well in the exhibition.

- Co Art participated in Beijing International Design Week in September 2021 and got good interactive feedback from the audience. I

- Through its halo, people will be guided to place their hands into the interactive blue area, and it also encouraged them to have a dialogue with the A.I. imagination engine to create artwork together.
