About Tentagon Inflatable Tent

Tentgaon is an inflatable tent with an triaxial structure. The appearance is based on a pentagonal belt watch, which is connected to the inner tent through the left and right inclined angles, and uses gravity to achieve a balance between the inner tent and the air column. Tentagon create a classic shape with simple geometry, and at the same time appeal to life with different angles and faces. It hope users can bravely step out of the comfort zone and interpret the attitude of life!

Within the evolving landscape of outdoor equipment design, this portable shelter exemplifies a significant advancement in pneumatic structural engineering that merges expedition-grade functionality with refined aesthetic sensibility. The work demonstrates mastery of inflatable architecture principles, employing air-filled tubular members as the primary load-bearing framework—a technique that dramatically reduces setup complexity while maintaining structural integrity against wind and weather conditions. The distinctive pentagonal footprint, suggested by the design's nomenclature, represents a thoughtful departure from conventional rectangular tent geometries, potentially offering improved interior volume distribution and enhanced aerodynamic performance. The extended curved awning element reveals sophisticated understanding of outdoor living needs, creating sheltered transitional space between interior refuge and external environment while simultaneously establishing visual identity through its graceful parabolic form. The chromatic choice of deep charcoal presents both practical and aesthetic dimensions—reducing visual intrusion in natural landscapes while absorbing thermal radiation during cooler conditions. Technical detailing visible in the reinforced attachment points, tensioning systems, and sealed seam construction evidences manufacturing precision characteristic of premium outdoor equipment traditions. The presentation against neutral backdrop follows established conventions of technical product documentation, allowing the form's sculptural qualities to command attention undistracted by environmental context. One might consider how this design addresses the eternal human impulse toward portable shelter—the nomadic dwelling reimagined through contemporary materials science and engineering innovation, offering modern adventurers a sophisticated cocoon of safety amid wilderness exploration.

Unique Properties
Tentagon is a two person lightweight tent with an inflatable frame, mainly for beginners in camping. Compared with the inflatable tents on the market, tentagon is lighter and more technical. It adopts innovative three-axis air column technology, which subverts the previous one axis technology on the market, so that the overall tent frame has a better supporting structure. It is also made of environmentally friendly fabrics.
Dimensions & Packaging
Tent dimension Width 1800mm x length 3000 mm x Height 1800 mm
Bag dimension Width 300 mm x length 600 mm x Height 270 mm

Production Technology
The frame of the tentagon tent is made in an inflatable way. Using high frequency sealing technology, two pieces of nylon fabric are made by sealing and gluing through high temperature and high pressure, and corresponding loops are added to the inflatable column. The fabric of the inner and outer tents is made of fabric with wind resistance, high waterproof coefficient and UV resistance, so that the whole tent can be used in severe climate environment.
Design Challenge
When designing tentagon, the most challenging thing is the design of the inflatable shaft structure. The three-axis inflatable structure must be considered in terms of angles, manufacturing procedures, design, etc. As long as a problem is not dealt with, the inflatable structure will be deflated. , so we made many models for testing, and then we designed the most suitable structure for the triaxial air column.
Project Duration
The project started in July 2021, completed in January 2022, and completed the design of the second edition in March, which will be exhibited at Young Designers’ Exhibition in Taiwan in June 2022.
Operation Flow
Tentagon can be inflated within 2 minutes, and the user only needs to fill the inflatable frame to complete the construction. In addition to setting up, the one-piece tent is also more convenient and quick to pack up. The overall shape of the tent is represented by a pentagon, which is connected to the inner tent through the left and right inclined angles, and uses gravity to achieve a perfect balance between the inner tent and the air column.
Research
Type of Research:Traditional Tent Use Feedback
Research Objectives: Expect to find the problems of traditional tent design and improve them.
Research methods: First collect data, and then start to summarize the problems of traditional tents.
Use of Internet and physical questionnaires to collect data.
The experimental results show that as many as 80 percent of novice campers feel that the current commercial tents are very inconvenient to build and store. Quick build and simple storage steps are the main needs at present.
Inspiration
In the past, tents with metal brackets were not convenient enough for camping beginners to assemble and store. Therefore, we used an inflatable technology to design the tent. However, the current inflatable tents on the market all use one-axis technology. Technology is limited in appearance and structural stability, so we designed tentagon and used high frequency sealing processing technology to manufacture inflatable frame.
