About Museum of Art Elegant Stand
Museum of Art is an exhibition stand designed for a manufacturer of luxury bathroom basins, tubs and faucets at a trade fair. Traditional walls are replaced by black matte laminate fins with gray marbling, angled sharply toward the center of the stand. The fins offer privacy and still allow glimpses of the interior. Inspired by dripping water, 250 strands of fine golden chain are suspended from floor to ceiling, forming translucent curtains around opposing corners of the centerpiece. Three showrooms present the products as individually lit art installations.
Smart Design Expo - Marzena Michalska's Museum of Art Elegant Stand emerges from within the lineage of contemporary exhibition architecture that privileges material authenticity and spatial drama over decorative elaboration, engaging with traditions established by museum architects and exhibition designers who understood that environment shapes perception of displayed content. The structure's deployment of monolithic vertical elements bearing weathered, mineral-like surfaces suggests engagement with both ancient architectural archetypes and contemporary industrial aesthetics, creating a visual vocabulary that speaks simultaneously to permanence and modernity. Technical accomplishment manifests in the precise calibration of proportional relationships, where column width relates harmoniously to height and spacing according to principles that echo classical architectural orders while maintaining distinctly contemporary character. The lighting strategy demonstrates sophisticated understanding of atmospheric control, employing concealed linear sources to model architectural surfaces while allowing peripheral darkness to create natural spatial boundaries without physical barriers. Chromatic restraint serves strategic purposes, with the dominant charcoal tonality establishing a neutral yet prestigious backdrop against which products or displays might command attention while the warm ivory floor plane creates both practical wayfinding and symbolic elevation of the contained space. The inclusion of motion-blurred figures within the captured moment introduces temporal dimension, suggesting the structure as a stage for human experience and interaction rather than static monument. One might observe how the threshold condition created by the columnar arrangement invites passage while simultaneously establishing clear territorial definition, a sophisticated negotiation between accessibility and prestige that characterizes the most accomplished commercial environments. The work invites contemplation of how architectural form shapes brand perception and human behavior, asking viewers to consider what qualities of space communicate value, authenticity, and cultural sophistication in contemporary commercial contexts.

- Production Technology
- The exhibit was sectioned off into three showrooms to feature its classic wares, traditional bestsellers, and new products. We used bright spot lighting to emphasize the products. we arranged the offerings as individually lit art installations with luxury bathtubs set atop platforms a couple inches above the floor, sink basins mounted vertically on walls, and faucets arranged atop cabinet-like kiosks.A rectangle of black marbled laminate flooring inset in the room’s classical white floor defined the featured attraction where faucets were arranged along one edge atop a bronze rectangular counter with a black top.
- Design Challenge
- We had to make an intriguing atmosphere through the crowded exhibition halls. The client suggested they wanted to "close" the stand with the main construction so the designer had a challenging time to create it. Omnires had fresh new rebranding , so it was challenging to represent their new vision with the design since they had to make an "wow" effect.
- Project Duration
- The project was designed for a polish client - Omnires - for the Warsaw Home 2019 trade fair.
- Research
- Omnires saw the 2019 Warsaw Home show as an opportunity to cement its refreshed image as a top-tier manufacturer of luxury bathroom basins, tubs, and faucets. They asked us to craft an exhibit that reinforced its high-end positioning for the attending architects, designers, and industry specialists. The crown jewel of the exhibit featured a series of faucets in the center of the new-product showroom.
- Inspiration
- A minimalist design befitting an art gallery. The main idea for the stand was to create a place where visitors could feel both privately and relaxed. We called the stand the party in the museum of art.
