About Radiance Business Center
Radiance is a business center interior completed in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The interior covers 181 square meters and uses a dark color scheme to create a professional atmosphere. Sleek elongated lines and LED light strips form a technology driven aesthetic. Metallic, mirrored and glass elements are combined with smoky black and carbon black wood textures to balance strength and softness. Curved forms wrap the structural columns and soften the reception desk. Materials include metallic melamine board, large format tiles, PVC floor tiles and metal.
Prelude Interior Design's Radiance Business Center represents a sophisticated exploration of contemporary commercial interior design where architectural lighting transcends functional necessity to become the primary compositional gesture, demonstrating how geometric abstraction and dramatic tonal contrast can transform utilitarian business environments into experiential spatial narratives that engage visitors through visual drama rather than ornamental embellishment. The design situates itself within broader trajectories of minimalist commercial architecture that emerged from late twentieth-century corporate modernism yet inflects these traditions with decidedly contemporary sensibilities drawn from theatrical lighting design, digital aesthetics, and deconstructivist compositional strategies, creating an environment that feels simultaneously rooted in rational modernist principles and animated by expressive artistic impulses. The compositional achievement rests primarily in the ceiling-mounted linear lighting installation, where white LED elements trace irregular polygonal paths that suggest both precise geometric calculation and dynamic energy, their angular trajectories creating visual movement across the horizontal plane while avoiding predictable symmetry or conventional grid logic, instead proposing a more complex spatial rhythm that rewards sustained looking and reveals different geometric relationships from varying viewpoints throughout the space. This lighting gesture establishes the design's formal vocabulary while simultaneously solving functional requirements, providing ambient illumination sufficient for navigation and work while creating distinctive visual identity that differentiates this business center from conventional commercial office environments. The material palette demonstrates remarkable restraint, limiting finishes to a carefully curated selection of dark charcoal surfaces, metallic elements, and strategic warm-toned accents visible in background zones, this chromatic discipline allowing subtle variations in surface texture, reflectivity, and light absorption to register with particular clarity, as the eye becomes sensitized to minute differences between matte and glossy blacks, cool and warm grays, and the various ways surfaces interact with both direct and reflected illumination. The curved reception element exemplifies this material sophistication, its volumetric form articulated through horizontal banding that captures light along edges while the primary surface remains in relative shadow, creating a sense of substantial three-dimensional presence through careful manipulation of light and shade rather than through applied decoration or color variation. The spatial organization reveals thoughtful consideration of circulation, transparency, and functional zoning, with the central corridor space serving as a theatrical approach sequence that builds anticipation while glass-partitioned background spaces promise more intimate work environments bathed in warmer light, suggesting a deliberate gradient from public drama to private focus as one moves deeper into the facility. What the design invites consideration of is how contemporary commercial environments might balance corporate professionalism with artistic expression, how lighting can function simultaneously as infrastructure and installation art, and how extreme tonal contrast and geometric abstraction drawn from fine art traditions can be deployed to create memorable experiential environments that elevate everyday professional activities into more considered spatial encounters, suggesting that the designed environment itself can communicate values of innovation, precision, and sophisticated restraint that may align with aspirational brand identities in knowledge-based industries.

- Design Challenge
- The curved design gracefully envelops the protruding structural columns, seamlessly blending them into the space. LED light strips extend along their surfaces, enhancing the overall fluidity and harmony of the environment. In the reception area, the segmented display shelves with LED light strips of varying lengths evoke a sense of speed and momentum. Visitors embark on a journey where the future unfolds with every step.
- Project Duration
- The project is finished in July 2024 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- The reception area shimmers with metallic accents and flowing LED light strips, casting a sleek yet refined glow. Light weaves through the space, sculpting an atmosphere that feels less like a room and more like a cutting-edge spaceship — avant-garde and futuristic. The reception desk is composed of geometric elements, with curved edges softening the sharp edges and rigid lines. The backdrop masterfully intertwines light and materials into a dynamic composition, crafting layers of tension that captivate the eye. The interplay of solid and void adds depth and intrigue. In the waiting area, floating curved seating seems to defy gravity, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in an interstellar journey to explore the unknown.
- Research
- In the lounge area, a black base is complemented by rugged metallic textures, exuding a bold vibe. Segmented blocks form the bar, where contrasting colors and the fusion of materials create a striking visual effect. Bathed in a gentle glow, the stone surfaces unveil their intricate veining, revealing nature’s artistry in exquisite details. The mellow natural stone blends with the raw and rustic backdrop, achieving a harmonious balance between softness and strength. The lighting fixtures layer with geometric blocks, featuring an exquisite design that mirrors the graceful trajectories of planets. This dynamic arrangement infuses the space with a sense of movement and rhythm, as if celestial bodies were gracefully orbiting overhead.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the boundless universe, this business center conveys the profoundness of the cosmos with its deep-toned palette. The linear LED light strips evoke cosmic nebulae. The scattered light diffuses across metallic surfaces, adding a touch of sophistication and glamour. Various light sources are layered to add depth and dimension.
