About Custom Hoodies Logo
Custom Hoodies is a Desktop to Garment web portal where images are applied to hoodies and printed. The logo is a stylization of a tied string on a hoodie done as a stencil-graffiti friendly Little Red Riding Hood superhero symbol, if she was one today, flying around looking for a big, bad wolf. It is attempting to emit a rebellious vibe and an upbeat energy of the street fashion brand, acting as a sub-brand on top of which the users of the web portal can build their own story.

- In this project, the first challenge was to give a compelling and relatable story to the symbol. Since research went in two ways, the second challenge was to make those two directions meet organically without losing any bit of the value of either one.

- The simple-heavy logo design strives to be immediately impactful for the targeted users and to directly associate the visual identity with the service provided. It encourages people to unleash their inner street-artist and put their stories out to the world with Custom Hoodies.

- The research presented insights into the cultural significance that a hoodie is a symbol of. Not just on a functional level worn for a physical activity or as a leisurely garment of convenience, but as a certain lifestyle representative. Custom Hoodies is exactly that, plugging in into these values, promoting freedom of expression, personal stories and bold values.
- Inspiration
- Custom Hoodies is a Desktop-2-Garment web portal where images are applied to hoodies and printed. Hoodie have a history and various cultural meanings. In a modern sense, it is related to street culture, and in traditional to tales. This is why logo is grounded in films that popularized hoodies like Rocky, but at the same time in stories like Little Red Riding Hood. It is a semiotic hybrid fueled by these diversities converged into a a modern package, triggering people to create their own stories

Design Interview about Custom Hoodies Logo
Celebrate hoodie culture and lifestyle and all it represents. We chose to go for a playful approach, fusing together a hybrid of traditional (Little Red Riding Hood) and contemporary (superhero emblem) icons.
To create an image appealing to street-fashion afficionados, make it interesting and memorable.
It is a visual identity project, we are hoping the client will use it across the board for a long time.
Around two months, three people working on it to a different extent simultaneously with other projects.
It was a part of a larger cluster of projects growing several brands on top of a Desktop-to-Garment printshop business in Houston, TX.
It is a property of the client it was designed for.
It was a part of a bigger, more complex endeavor and a key link for several other projects to get done. Also, it was very close to lead designer's personal taste and preference :)
None from the outside in this case.
Specifically, my role on this project was creative direction and I did all the strategizing and decision making. The actual design was overwhelmingly executed by lead designer on the project Mr. Marko Maciev and his contribution, personal influence and signature is strongest by far. Ms. Iris Tam gave valuable support as always, when needed.

I hope it's the quality of the idea and execution, to be honest. If we are lucky others will see it so as well.
The name was preassigned by the client. We built the rest based on that alone.

No special research was needed for this project, other then regular qualitative/quantitative prep for a visual identity and branding design.
The process was quite smooth.
The whole team believed in it, client wanted to sponsor the application.
In my case, it was all about trusting in my team members and choosing when to step in and how to do it, and when not to. Full disclosure, I trusted them just as much before so it is not really an improvement.
