About The Mask That Ate The Virus Príomhfheidhm: Masc a Dhíothaíonn Víris
Is amhlaidh gur fhorbair an chuideachta bhiteicneolaíochta Eilvéiseach Livinguard teicstíl le haghaidh masc in-athúsáidte a dhí-ghníomhaíonn agus a dhíothaíonn baictéir, fungais agus víris (Covid 19 san áireamh) ar theagmháil. Tugtar an smaoineamh seo chun beatha sa phacáistiú: Tagann an masc i bpacáiste steiriúil. Beoann stráice plaisteach ceangailte – nuair a shleamhnaítear suas agus síos é – léiriú grafach de víreas atá á ithe le linn an phróisis, rud a chuireann greann atá géarghá leis leis na laethanta éadóchasacha. Chun meascadh na masc i measc bhaill an teaghlaigh, agus dá bharr sin tras-éilliú, a sheachaint, tagann fáiscíní coigeartaithe de dhathanna éagsúla i muinchille ar leith chun gach masc a shaincheapadh.

- Design Challenge
- Finding the right materials and printing technology that would allow for a highly accurate production needed for the animation to work.
- Research
- To bring the virus-eliminating process to life in the packaging, we made use of a century old technique: Moiré Animation – creating an optical illusion of animated frames, with the graphic depiction of a virus getting 'eaten' in the process.
- Inspiration
- Swiss biotech company Livinguard developed a textile for reusable masks that inactivates bacteria, fungi, and viruses (incl. Covid 19) upon impact.
The product idea is brought to life in the packaging:
The mask comes in a sterile package. An attached plastic strip animates – when slid up and down – a virus that is getting eaten in the process, adding some urgently needed humor in desperate days. - Project Duration
- The product was launched in May 2020. Up to date 5 Million masks were produced. Market: China/Worldwide
- Operation Flow
- The task was to communicate a new, unique product advantage to the consumer via the packaging: that a simple textile can provide protection, every single day.
- Patents
- Livinguard patented, treated textile
