About The Mask That Ate The Virus Masg a Chuireas às do Bhìoras
Leasaich a' chompanaidh bith-theicneòlais Eilbheiseach Livinguard aodach airson masgan ath-chleachdaidh a chuireas à gnìomh agus às do bhaictearan, fungasan, agus bhìorasan (Covid 19 nam measg) cho luath 's a bhuaileas iad. Tha am beachd seo air a thoirt beò sa phacaid: Thig am masg ann am pacaid steirilichte. Bidh stiall phlastaig ceangailte – nuair a shleamhnaicheas tu suas is sìos i – a' beòthachadh dealbh grafaigeach de bhìoras a tha ga ithe san dol seachad, a' cur beagan àbhachdais a tha gu math riatanach ri làithean èiginneach. Gus casg a chur air masgan a bhith air am measgachadh am measg buill teaghlaich, agus mar sin tar-thruailleadh, thig cnapan gleusaidh dhathach eadar-dhealaichte ann an còmhdach fa leth gus gach masg a ghnàthachadh.

- Design Challenge
- Finding the right materials and printing technology that would allow for a highly accurate production needed for the animation to work.
- Research
- To bring the virus-eliminating process to life in the packaging, we made use of a century old technique: Moiré Animation – creating an optical illusion of animated frames, with the graphic depiction of a virus getting 'eaten' in the process.
- Inspiration
- Swiss biotech company Livinguard developed a textile for reusable masks that inactivates bacteria, fungi, and viruses (incl. Covid 19) upon impact.
The product idea is brought to life in the packaging:
The mask comes in a sterile package. An attached plastic strip animates – when slid up and down – a virus that is getting eaten in the process, adding some urgently needed humor in desperate days. - Project Duration
- The product was launched in May 2020. Up to date 5 Million masks were produced. Market: China/Worldwide
- Operation Flow
- The task was to communicate a new, unique product advantage to the consumer via the packaging: that a simple textile can provide protection, every single day.
- Patents
- Livinguard patented, treated textile
