About Jinsha Lingyun Wine Packaging
Jinsha Lingyun is a packaging design for a liquor bottle. The bottle is made of black biodegradable ceramic and measures 80 millimeters in diameter and 230 millimeters in height. The outer box is made from discarded sawdust and tree bark. The cap is made of crystal material. Illustrated original fonts, mountain and water patterns, drip patterns and annual rings refer to Guizhou culture and traditional brewing scenes. The bottle form recalls obsidian stone. The design reflects green development and respect for nature.
The packaging design for Jinsha Lingyun Wine by Cheng Tian Sheng represents a distinguished achievement in contemporary spirits presentation, demonstrating how traditional decorative arts vocabularies may be translated into modern luxury packaging contexts while preserving cultural resonance and material sophistication. The designer appears to draw upon multiple heritage streams including classical bronze vessel ornamentation, lacquerware traditions, and the relief carving techniques associated with precious metalwork, synthesizing these influences into a cohesive visual language appropriate to premium spirits positioning. The compositional strategy demonstrates considerable intelligence in its hierarchical organization, centering the decorative program within a clearly defined cartouche that provides visual focus while allowing the surrounding black ground to function as both negative space and contextual frame. Technical accomplishment manifests throughout the relief work, where varying depths of carving create subtle tonal gradations within the golden surfaces, suggesting the hand of skilled artisans working within established craft traditions. The integration of calligraphic elements provides both cultural authentication and rhythmic visual interest, the vertical text columns creating directional counterpoint to the swirling horizontal cloud formations. The circular medallion operates as both brand identifier and symbolic centerpiece, its radiating concentric lines evoking solar imagery and suggesting qualities of illumination, clarity, and precious refinement. The secondary panel visible on the bottle's right face extends the decorative program through landscape imagery, perhaps referencing terroir or regional geography associated with the spirit's production. Material choices reinforce premium positioning throughout, the matte black ceramic suggesting both contemporary minimalism and ancient pottery traditions, while metallic relief work implies precious metal without explicit mimicry. The stopper assembly deserves particular recognition for its sculptural refinement, the faceted black form creating geometric dialogue with the organic relief below while the metallic collar provides transitional warmth. What invites further contemplation is how this object mediates between functional container and display piece, suggesting ceremonial rather than casual consumption.
Press Kit
- Unique Properties
- Refactoring the font of "Golden Sands Returning to Sand" and incorporating elements of "water, soil, air, grain, and micro", integrating Guizhou culture and brewing scenes. The bottle cap imitates the national liquor door, paired with drip patterns and annual rings; Bottleneck design with mountain and water patterns; The innovative cutting surface of the bottle is highlighted with illustrated fonts, and the unique charm is displayed with black tones and biodegradable wood chips and bark.

- Production Technology
- The material of the box is made from discarded sawdust and tree bark degradation, while the bottle is made of high-quality black and biodegradable ceramic material. The bottle illustration is creatively designed with original fonts, and the bottle cap is made of crystal material.
- Design Challenge
- In product packaging design, the organic combination of regional cultural elements and font stroke reconstruction, balancing cultural inheritance and innovation, is not easy. With my efforts, they are presented in the best form; In terms of product technology, biodegradable ceramic materials require high processing accuracy, and the degradation of bark and sawdust has extremely high environmental requirements, mold technology, and molding processes. The special carving of landscape patterns on packaging boxes also presents certain challenges. Through my repeated attempts, a product with creative, practical, and artistic value is ultimately created.
- Project Duration
- The project started in Shenzhen in December 2024, was completed in Shenzhen in May 2025, and exhibited in Shenzhen in June 2025.
- Operation Flow
- The product is presented in the form of obsidian stone, with a delicate and tough touch, as if immersing oneself in it. The golden sand is cleverly distributed on every side of the bottle, rotating the bottle, and the landscape patterns on each side seem to tell the story of the unique craftsmanship of golden sand and the integration with nature, as well as the mutual achievement between humans and nature.
