About Off Screen Audio Books Design
Off Screen Audio is a book that presents oil paintings inspired by Chinese opera. The cover uses a laser hollow-out process, so the shapes of the drama appear directly on the surface of the book. The title lettering is built from dots, lines and planes, and forms a symbol of sound. The book measures 190 by 210 millimetres and is bound with lock wire in a false hardcover. The outer cover and the back cover use high density grey board with matte silver hot stamping. The design aims to express the spirit of traditional Chinese culture.

The opera element is one of the important elements and components in Peng Xiaohang's works. For him, drama is the epitome of oriental culture, permeating the vitality of the nation, containing oriental thoughts and humanistic feelings, which also inspired his thinking about life , Prompting him to express his love for drama with painting creation.
His heart is woven with oriental feelings, Chinese style is the appearance of his life, and oil painting is his tool for expressing emotions. Western oil painting is used to express the Chinese national spirit and culture. The rich traditional culture constitutes an inexhaustible art resource for the painter, and transplants the national freehand spirit into oil painting creation.
In recent years, his paintings have gradually reduced the depiction of character shapes, simplified the background, made the characters exist in non-specific spaces, emphasized the non-uniqueness of time, and increased the depth of time, making the symbol of the character not cause Time and space are limited.

This is an exhibition focusing on Chinese opera works. The author uses the theme of "Sound Outside the Picture" to express his hobby for opera in the language of painting. The design is inspired by the theme of "Sound Outside the Picture". Art, we use lines on the font to express the artistic conception outside the painting, express the heart of the art, and at the same time use the colors of oil painting to show the colorful mirror image of opera and dance.
The main point is to express the sound through the font design of "Sound Outside the Picture", express the singing in the stage performance, and express the inner voice and viewpoint of the art author.

This inspiration was when we set the theme of the exhibition "Sound Outside the Picture". I already decided to design it this way, because designing the font into a form that can sound, expressing sound visually is a very interesting challenge.
I have thought about producing some products with the artist, but it has not yet been realized.
Because I am also a curator (art exhibition), I have the opportunity and like to participate in the visual design of this art exhibition.
